Skin needling, microneedling, or collagen induction therapy is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, sterilized needles to prick the skin. This treatment aims to generate new collagen and skin tissue to smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles. The procedure is also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy. It is minimally invasive, requiring little to no downtime, and is considered safe for most people who are in overall good health.
Microneedling and microdermabrasion are both procedures to improve the look and texture of your skin, but microdermabrasion doesn’t use needles. Microdermabrasion uses a device with a rough edge, like sandpaper, to exfoliate the uppermost layer of your skin. Microneedling goes deeper into your skin than microdermabrasion, so it might work better for problems beneath the surface.
Clients that benefit from skin needling include those with:

Varies from person to person. Everybody is different. We use numbing cream, but most people still feel a little discomfort.
Those that shouldn't get skin needling include those that:
We don't recommend doing permanent makeup if you have a history of any allergic reactions. Some of the ingredients in our numbing creams include Lidocaine, Tetracaine, and Epinephrine.

The number of sessions required for skin needling depends on the area size and condition of the skin. Most people have between one to three sessions, but it may take more to get the desired results. Sessions are scheduled four to six weeks apart to allow the skin to heal.
- Scar reduction often takes 3-6 sessions.
- Acne typically take 3-4 sessions.
- Collagen induction is 3-4 sessions.
- General skin health, such as texture and tone. 1-2 sessions.
The areas of treatment will likely be slightly swollen for 24-48 hours.
We recommend minimizing your sun exposure for 1 week after the procedure. Longer if possible.
Overview:
It is important to take care of your skin to maximize the results of your skin needling treatment and to prevent any unnecessary complications. The following describes the healing process, facial care, and the dos and don'ts for skin needling aftercare.
Healing Process:
Day 1: The skin will appear red, purple, or will give the appearance of a sunburn or even swelling depending on the technique of the treatment process.
Day 2: The discoloration of the skin will start to appear more even and less swelling.
Day 3: The skin will appear more less red or discolored and the color will start to have a more normal appearance.
Day 4: The swelling should have completely subsided. The skin will have started the exfoliation process.
Day 5: Within 7-10 days the skin should be completely back to normal.
Note: The healing process will differ for each client depending on the skin condition.
Facial Care:
Facial Cleansing: Cleanse the face twice a day with a gentle soap (Cetaphil or Dial soap). Pat dry with a clean paper towel. After cleansing, apply a sparingly amount of coconut oil or Vaseline to the face.
Things to avoid for 7 days:
- Hot steamy showers.
- Facial exfoliation. Be gentle. Avoid any type of scrubbing.
· Makeup - If possible, avoid using makeup for at least 7 days. This helps prevent infection to to bacteria in the makeup. If you absolutely need to use makeup, then use a water based (mineral based) product that has not been used. Also, makeup brushes can irritate the open skin.
- Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible until the skin is free of redness, irritation, or uneven skin tone. Your skin skin may be sensitive to the sun for several weeks.
- Minimize sweating.
- Do not use anti-aging or anti-acne agents. (Retinols, glycolic aids, etc.)
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen.
